Australian Disability Sport
exists to raise funds to enable Australians with a disability to access the sport of their choice without restriction.
ADS will work to build relationships with and assist:
Mainstream sporting organisations with a disability action plan,
Sporting organisations with a disability focus and
Specialist disability agencies.
Raise awareness of disability sport to the general public.
Raise awareness of disability sport within the sporting community.
Encourage more people with a disability to participate in sport.
Australian Disability Sport aims to:
Bridge the gap between government funding and other available support.
Ensure that the barriers for Australians with a disability accessing sport are significantly reduced and
Become the primary non government source of funding for disabled sport in Australia
A person is not judged by their disability but is valued according to their skills, abilities and talents.
People with disabilities should able to play sport receiving the same dignity, respect and consideration as all others within the community.
ADS believe that disability is not a restriction to a person’s ability to play the sport of their choice.
That each person is considered according to his or her individual needs.
An individual should be judged on their strengths and abilities and that belief in one’s self is more than half the battle.
